Released on October 24th for the Liburia Records label, La Giostra is the new album by Kërkim, the apulian group formed by Maurizio Pellizzari on vocals, guitar, saz and mandolin, Vincenzo Grasso on clarinet and sax, Bruno Galeone on accordion, Manuela Salinaro on percussion and Francesco Pellizzari on drums, active for several years in the research and revival of the traditional repertoires of the Balkans and the Mediterranean. Anticipated by the release of the single "Tu che parti", the album, recorded and mixed in Lecce, presents eight tracks, including unreleased songs and reinterpretations of traditional ones, for a musical journey that starts from Salento and reaches the Maghreb, forming an anthology of sounds and music from these places.
In this work, Kërkim creates his own language without barriers and without borders, re- reading the frequencies of these lands and drawing inspiration from the street, listening to its sounds, smells and observing its steps. To enrich the disc, numerous guests including Irene Luongo and Jamila Harbi on vocals, Antonio Alemanno on double bass, Gianpaolo Saracino on violin, Giovanni Chirico on baritone sax, Andrea Perrone on trumpet and Giuseppe Spedicato on bass tuba.
